Institute for Industrial and Applied Mathematics
With the development of information industry, cryptographic information theory, communication theory, financial theory, and mathematical bio big data analysis have emerged as essential research areas. As the complexity of our society increases, theories in various fields such as pure and applied sciences have become more complicating and diverse, and active research to explain such phenomena has been conducted around the world. In addition, many advanced countries are making every effort to develop a quantum computer and communication system, next-generation computer and communication network. And rapid changes in the research trends and environments of pure and applied mathematics generate new field of applied mathematics in the name of “industrial mathematics,” corresponding to the social demands and expectations, that is, academic fields should be directly applied and used for the creation of new industries and the development of the existing industries. Therefore, the institute aims to contribute not only to the development of basic and applied sciences and the improvement of industry, but also to the training of research professionals by developing theories of pure and applied mathematics.
