Uam Research Institute
The institute aims to study the thought and ideology of Uam Song Si-yeol and Confucian scholar culture (Sarim in Korean) in Chungbuk area. Song Si-yeol is a representative scholar, social philosopher, and politician during the late Joseon dynasty, and follows the academic legacy of Yi I and Kim Jang-saeng as a leader of the Kiho School. And he finally formed a separate scholarly lineage. A systematic study of Uam's political position, as well as his studies and ideas, will identify the ideological trends and scholarly characteristics of Confucian scholar culture in Chungbuk area. In addition, it will promote the study of the thought and ideology of the Kiho School, which has been less studied than the Youngnam School.
